South African Football Association (SAFA) President Danny Jordaan was arrested on Wednesday amid allegations that he misused the organisation's funds for personal benefit.

The arrest follows a police raid on SAFA's offices in March, which uncovered claims that Jordaan had used SAFA's resources for personal purposes between 2014 and 2018.

These include hiring a private security firm for his protection and engaging a public relations company, all without prior approval from the SAFA board.

Jordaan, who played a key role in securing South Africa's hosting of the 2010 World Cup, attempted to block his arrest by seeking a court injunction.

However, the Johannesburg High Court is not scheduled to hear his case until Thursday.

In addition to Jordaan, SAFA's Chief Financial Officer Gronie Hluyo and businessman Trevor Neethling are also facing charges related to the alleged misuse of funds.

All three are expected to appear in court later today. Jordaan denies the charges, maintaining his innocence in the matter.
