Uncle of 'rebel' Ghana defender Salisu Mohammed says that his nephew is willing and ready to play for the Black Stars in Ghana's World Cup qualifier against Nigeria.

The Southampton defender has been attracting a lot of bad press recently after Alhaji Gruzah revealed that the player warned him never to talk to him about playing for Ghana when he was tasked to help convince him play for the country of his birth.

Yakubu Ahmed Abaaba, Uncle of the Southampton defender says that the player is pained by past events when he wanted to play for the Ghana U-17 with officials demanding money at the time.

Speaking in an interview with Sikka FM, the player's says his nephew has promised to play in the two legged World Cup play off tie with Nigeria.

"Salisu was really pained by the demand for money from some officials of the Ghana U17 squad then before he could make the final squad."

"Mohammed Salisu has promised to come for Ghana vs Nigeria in the World Cup qualifiers. The alleged issue in the Black Stars camp disturbs him but he will come."
