Ghanaian DStv subscribers may soon benefit from a reduction in subscription fees, as the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, has announced plans to meet with MultiChoice Ghana leadership to address pricing concerns.

At a press briefing held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, the Minister revealed that a high-level meeting is scheduled for Friday, July 4—despite it being a public holiday—with both the local team from MultiChoice Ghana and senior executives from the company’s South African headquarters.

The engagement is part of ongoing efforts to address widespread public complaints regarding affordability, value for money, and fair service delivery from DStv, which is operated by MultiChoice.

“Last week, I invited the senior leadership of MultiChoice Ghana to a formal dialogue on DSTV's subscription pricing,” Sam George stated. “The meeting was to express the ministry’s expectation that pricing structures should reflect Ghana’s economic context and the financial realities of consumers.”

He emphasized the government’s commitment to regulatory oversight and consumer protection in the digital services sector, adding that tangible outcomes from the meeting would be communicated publicly.

“I have a meeting tomorrow with the Ghana and South African management of MultiChoice. They arrived tonight, and we are determined to find a way forward,” he said. “Let me make this promise to the people of Ghana—I will not leave that meeting without securing a reduction in DSTV subscription prices. That is my solemn commitment.”
