Samartex FC is reportedly preparing for a managerial change, with current head coach Nurudeen Amadu set to leave the club, according to sources close to the club.
Amadu, who guided Samartex to an extraordinary Ghana Premier League title last season, appears to have lost his hold on the team following a difficult start to their title defense.
Despite the historical achievement of winning their first major trophy and securing a spot in the CAF Champions League, this season has been challenging for the club.
Samartex’s form has drastically dipped, with just four wins, five draws, and four losses, including three consecutive defeats.
These struggles have led to speculation that Amadu may step down, although he has not yet formally submitted his resignation. His decision is expected to be officially announced later this week.
Amadu was appointed head coach in July 2023 and quickly exceeded expectations by leading the club to the league title, maintaining an unbeaten home record in the process.
Reflecting on the title win, Amadu described it as a "dream come true," emphasizing that the initial goal was to finish higher than the previous season rather than aiming for the league title itself.
Amadu, who has also coached King Faisal and served as an assistant coach for Ghana’s U-20 and U-17 national teams, is currently the head coach of Ghana’s U-18 team.
His decision to leave Samartex signals the end of an era, with the club now looking ahead to the future under new leadership.
