South African Premier League side Sekhukhune United has parted ways with former Ghana midfielder Edwin Gyimah.

The 33-year-old is among 13 players released by the DSTV Premiership club as they undergo a squad overhaul.

Gyimah joined Sekhukhune United in the 2021-22 season but struggled to secure a consistent place in the team.

His tenure at the club was marked by frequent clashes with management over his limited playing opportunities, leading to a strained relationship.

The versatile Ghanaian last featured for Sekhukhune on November 12, 2023, in a 2-1 victory against SuperSport United.

Frustrated by his perceived undervaluation, Gyimah has been vocal about his dissatisfaction with the club's leadership, accusing them of not appreciating his contributions.

Gyimah's career in South Africa spans over a decade, having played for several top-tier clubs, including SuperSport United, Mpumalanga Black Aces, Orlando Pirates, Bidvest Wits, and Black Leopards.

He also had a stint with Helsingborgs IF in Sweden.

Internationally, Gyimah represented Ghana in the 31st edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon in 2017.

As he moves on from Sekhukhune United, the experienced midfielder will be looking for new opportunities to continue his career.
