Antoine Semenyo has praised Manchester City’s collective discipline and unity following their emphatic 4-0 victory over Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
Speaking to TNT Sports after the match on April 4, the Ghanaian winger highlighted the team’s commitment to both defensive solidity and clinical finishing as key to the result.
Semenyo, who scored City’s third goal early in the second half after being set up by Rayan Cherki, said the performance was a continuation of the standards set during their recent Carabao Cup success.
“Feels amazing. The team played really well today. We wanted to continue from the Carabao Cup final and we carried on today,” he said.
“We said from the final once we are back we wanted to score goals, defend as a team and we did that perfectly today.”
City’s dominant display also saw Erling Haaland score a hat-trick, while goalkeeper James Trafford produced a crucial penalty save to preserve the clean sheet.
Semenyo’s remarks reflected a broader sense of cohesion within the squad, with the players having held internal discussions on improving both attacking output and defensive organisation ahead of the tie.
Since his high-profile move from AFC Bournemouth in January, the 26-year-old has quickly become a key figure in Pep Guardiola’s side. His latest performance underlined his growing influence as City continue their pursuit of silverware this season.
