Wilson Arthur, the proprietor of Division One League outfit Skyy FC, has found himself in a precarious situation after being charged by the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for recent comments concerning match officials in the ongoing campaign.

Arthur stands accused of violating Section 34(6)(d) of the GFA Division One League Regulations, 2019, following remarks made about match officials during a media interview.

The GFA Prosecution alleges that his comments amount to misconduct that tarnishes the reputation of the game. Arthur has until Thursday, April 25, 2024, to respond to the charges.

In a recent interview with Akoma FM, Arthur expressed frustration over what he perceived as biased officiating against his team, Skyy FC.

He lamented numerous contentious decisions that, in his view, have adversely impacted Skyy FC's standing in the league.

"After 22 games in Division One, I can say that approximately eight referees came specifically to sabotage my team," Arthur asserted, alleging deliberate efforts to impede his team's progress.

Moreover, Arthur voiced his intention to withdraw his investment in football and explore other business opportunities due to perceived financial losses resulting from what he described as referee bias.

He criticized the GFA for allegedly failing to adequately address his grievances, claiming that his formal complaints remained unanswered.

Skyy FC currently occupies the sixth position in Zone 2 of the Division One league with 34 points, nurturing ambitions of securing promotion to the top-flight league.

However, Arthur's outspoken criticisms have surfaced amidst the team's promotion bid, raising concerns about their impact on team morale and focus.

The club's narrow miss of promotion last season adds weight to the situation, with Arthur's public criticisms potentially affecting Skyy FC's prospects in the current campaign.

The outcome of the disciplinary proceedings will undoubtedly have significant implications for both Arthur and Skyy FC as they navigate the remainder of the season.
