Some 400 Kurdish YPG Leave Manbij Under Deal With Damascus - Syrian Military
Earlier, a Sputnik correspondent reported that Syrian Army forces had deployed near Manbij in a bid to prevent a possible Turkish military operation in the Syrian Kurdish-controlled area.

About 400 Syrian Kurdish YPG militants left Manbij in 30 vehicles on January 1 after reaching an agreement with Damascus to withdraw from the area, the Syrian Defence Ministry has announced.
According to the Defence Ministry, the militia units left Manbij for the east bank of the Euphrates River.
"In accordance with the agreement on the return of the territories in northern Syria to peaceful life, beginning January 1, a convoy of 30 vehicles with Kurdish militants left Manbij for the east bank of the Euphrates," the Defence Ministry's press service said in a statement obtained by Sputnik. "At the moment, about 400 militants from the Kurdish formations have withdrawn from Manbij," the press service added.
Earlier, the Syrian military announced that it had entered Manbij and raised the Syrian government flag in the area.
The Syrian Kurdish forces appealed to the Syrian government to establish control over areas they evacuated, including Manbij, in a bid to stave off a possible Turkish invasion. Ankara, which considers the YPG a terrorist group, previously threatened to launch a new operation in Kurdish-controlled areas in northern Syria. In recent weeks, onlookers have spotted concentrations of Turkish military hardware in southern Turkey.
