Member of the Parliamentary Select Committee for Sport Mr Isaac Asiamah, has stated that the passing of the sports bill is not going to do any good to the major problems confronting sports in the country.

Speaking to Kumasi-based Ashh FM sports team, the member of parliament for Atwima Mponua claimed that the sports bill that has been passed will not be enough to aid the ailing state of the sports industry in Ghana.

According to the minority  member of parliament, the biggest challenge in the sports industry in Ghana is the lack of funding and investments in Ghana sports so the sports fund is very important as far as solving this problem is concerned.

He regretted the removal of the sports fund from the bill claiming that the passing of the bill has done everything but solve the biggest problems in Ghana.

"At the committee level we even discussed this and drew a general consensus that passing the bill without the sports fund will be amount to nothing" he said.

He asserted that laws are made to solve certain problems and also look at bringing about development.

"You look at existing challenges and gear the laws towards solving those issues."

The member of parliament claimed that former president John Agyekum Kufuor's administration looked at these issues and introduced the sports fund which boosted sports in Ghana hence the removal of the fund from the bill goes contrary to aiding the state of sports in Ghana.
