Ghanaian second-tier club Steadfast FC is poised for a substantial financial boost following Abdul Fatawu Issahaku's permanent transfer from Sporting CP to Leicester City.
Owned by Ghanaian politician Haruna Iddrisu, Steadfast FC stands to receive 7.9 million Euros from the transfer agreement.
Issahaku initially joined Leicester on a season-long loan from Sporting CP last summer, with an obligation to buy.
Leicester City activated a 17 million Euros clause in the loan agreement after Issahaku fulfilled the condition of playing in more than 60% of the team's matches, a milestone officially confirmed recently.
During his loan stint, the talented winger showcased exceptional form, contributing six goals, including a memorable hat-trick, and providing 12 assists as Leicester secured promotion back to the Premier League.
Despite Leicester facing a transfer embargo due to breaching profit and sustainability regulations in the 2022/23 season, they successfully negotiated Issahaku's permanent transfer.
Steadfast FC stands to benefit significantly from this deal, entitled to 50% of the transfer fee once Leicester completes the 17 million Euros payment for Issahaku.
Sporting CP, who acquired Issahaku for 1.2 million Euros in 2022, will also share in the windfall, bringing the total transfer value to 15.8 million Euros.
This mutually beneficial agreement underscores Steadfast FC's role in nurturing talent and reinforces their financial standing in Ghanaian football.
