Ghanaian defender Stephan Ambrosius has bid farewell to German Bundesliga II side Hamburg SV following the expiration of his contract with the club.

The 25-year-old, who developed through the ranks of Hamburg SV, confirmed his departure after the conclusion of the club's 2023/24 season campaign.

In a statement released by the club, it was confirmed that Ambrosius, along with two other players, would be leaving.

The statement read: "It was a particularly emotional moment for HSV academy product Stephan Kofi Ambrosius. Raised in the Hamburg quarter of Wilhelmsburg, he has been at the club since the age of 13."

"Ambrosius spent time in the Rothosen’s academy between 2012 and 2017 before making the jump to the first team. The centre-back impressed with his uncompromising tackles and made his Bundesliga debut on 31st March 2018."

Despite facing several injuries, Ambrosius made a total of 49 appearances for the Hamburg SV first team, showcasing his talent and dedication to the club over the years.
