20th November 2025
A form three student of Islamic Senior High School in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, known as Abass, has died after reportedly falling from the top floor of the school’s administration block on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
Abass, a Business student and acting Boys’ Prefect, is said to have fallen during school hours, prompting students and staff to rush to the scene.
Sources indicate that the deceased had allegedly been struggling with suicidal thoughts for some time, though school authorities were reportedly unaware of his intentions. Family members and some students said Abass had previously hinted at harming himself, but the comments were assumed to be in jest.
He was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Officials confirmed that the Regional Ghana Education Service had been notified, though no official statement has yet been released.
The student has since been laid to rest according to Islamic traditions.
