Sudan assistant coach Ignatius Osei Fosu has praised his team's defensive resilience following their goalless draw against Ghana in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers on Thursday.

The Falcons of Jediane battled Ghana to a stalemate at the Ohene Gyan Stadium in a tightly contested Group F match.

Despite Ghana’s dominance, especially in the second half when they created several scoring chances, Sudan's defense held firm, earning them a valuable point away from home.

In his post-match comments, Fosu expressed satisfaction with the result, acknowledging the difficulty of facing a strong Ghanaian side.

He emphasized the significance of securing a draw against such formidable opponents, highlighting the team's defensive effort as key to the outcome.

"We played well and were solid defensively," Fosu said. "It was a tough game, especially with the home crowd supporting Ghana, but we managed to contain their attacks.

Our counter-attacking play was not at its best, but avoiding defeat in this atmosphere is a huge boost for us."

Fosu also commented on Ghana's quality, comparing them favorably to other top African teams, and remained optimistic about Sudan’s future matches.

The two teams will face off again in the return leg on Monday, October 14, at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Benina, Libya.
