Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has refuted claims of a reported slapping incident involving Sulley Muntari and then management committee member Moses Armah, also known as Parker, during the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Gyan clarified that no such assault occurred at the team's camp, contrary to widespread reports.

In an interview on Onua FM, the former Ghana striker asserted, "Sulley [Muntari] never slapped anybody."

The incident in question resulted in Muntari's expulsion from the team's camp for indiscipline, a decision that significantly impacted his international career, leading to his absence from subsequent call-ups until his retirement.

Despite the strained relations between Muntari and Parker following the incident, they have since reconciled, as evidenced by a picture of their unity during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Gyan's revelation adds a new perspective to the narrative surrounding the events of the 2014 World Cup, where Ghana exited the tournament at the group stage for the first time.

Additionally, Gyan previously confirmed a disciplinary incident involving Kevin-Prince Boateng, who verbally assaulted then-coach James Kwesi Appiah.

Boateng's exclusion from subsequent matches for Ghana was attributed to Appiah's decision in response to feeling disrespected by Boateng's choice of words.
