Supporters of premier league side, Aduana Stars, have raised protests over the appointment of referee Bernard Domfe for their penultimate encounter with Wa All Stars, at Wa, on Wednesday.

According to the aggrieved supporters, there is a conspiracy theory backing the appointment of the aforementioned referee because he is not the right man for the game.

'It is very disheartening that the Ghana referees committee appointed a division one referee who has less experience in Ghanaian top flight football, there is definitely a conspiracy theory behind this decision.

'This referee is from Bolgatanga he would definitely have some sort of affiliation. I am so much disappointed. We need FIFA referee for this title decider, someone who is experienced and would be on top of his game.' According to the supporters.

Mr Joseph Debrah, ex-football referee, said in an interview with the GNA that, 'Bernard Domfe is not a division one referee. He was sent to officiate matches there because the division one league was also coming to an end, so he could help.

'It doesn't mean that he is a division one referee, he went there to help. The referee's appointment committee has thought through very well and has accepted Benard Domfe as the right man.

'Yes he is from Bolgatanga not from Wa, what about somebody from Nsawam travelling to Accra to officiate, or from Sunyani to Kumasi? They have no case in this. We must forget about proximity and trust our referees.' Mr Debrah said.

Mr. Debrah further advised appointed referees to be very vigilant in the remaining games and come out as victors.

'You have not even stepped foot on the pitch, but you have been shown the red flag, you should go and do your ultimate best so that nobody would blame you, and at the end of the day they would accept win, lose or draw in a good faith.' He added.
