A picture circulating on social media about CNN's alleged declaration of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo (the flag bearer of the NPP) as the president-elect has been exposed.

The origin of the picture is not yet known, however it seems to have gathered ground in many reportage in the country.

The evidence of the falsehood of the picture which is making rounds lies in the picture itself.

It clearly seems to be a work of amateurs whatever their agenda may be.

First of all, the original CNN logo has the alphabets "CNN" connected to each other unlike the picture above which has the writings seperated. Note the difference in the picture below:

The original CNN logo

Secondly the news anchor which is seen in the hoax picture is not a recognized CNN news anchor. He simply does not work with the network.

Also notice the spelling of "Akufo" in the picture. It is spelt  "Akufor" which clearly indicates the work of an amateur

Hoax pictures and reports have been a trend on social media in recent elections.

It happened during the recent US elections which Republican candidate Donald Trump won.

Fake reports and figures emerged on social media propagating different ideas and agenda.

It seems this trend infiltrated into the Ghanaian political scene with social media increasingly becoming an avenue where more and more of such fake reports can be seen.

It is up to the users of social media to be vigilante and differentiate between what is real and what is fake.
