In the last month about five personnel of the Ghana Police Service have been shot and killed in varying circumstances.

It started in the Northern Region when Police Woman Corporal Agatha Nana Nabin was shot and killed at a police check post near Kumbungu.

37-year-old Corporal Bernard Antwi was also shot dead at Manso Abodom in the Amansie area of the Ashanti Region.

After which news emerged that another Police Man L/Cpl. Alhassan Asare has been found dead in Akyem Swedru with his rifle left in between his thighs.

Former deputy commissioner of police DCOP Bright Oduro says that the Police service should be swift in order to stem out this current trend.

According to the former CID boss the arrest and swift prosecution of the perpetrators of these crimes will help serve as a deterrent to others.

Speaking in an interview with Accra based Citi fm, the former Police boss believes this will go a long way to stop the killings.

“Every Police officer must be worried but am sure some of these criminals have been close in the past but just that they have not been able to arrest the perpetrators. Some arrest has been made but whether they have been pegged to the crime whether they have evidence that is also another thing

“Some of these criminals know that when they are able to execute any criminal intentions they have and they succeed in killing them they know it will be difficult to peg them to the crime”

“It’s now up to the Police Service to up their game and get these people arrested and prosecuted” he said.
