Brighton and Hove Albion's Tariq Lamptey marked a triumphant return to action as he played his first game of the season in the English Premier League.

The Ghanaian defender had been sidelined for the past five months, dating back to the conclusion of the previous season.

However, he made his eagerly anticipated comeback in his team's 3-1 victory over Newcastle United on a recent Saturday in the Premier League.

In this exciting match, it was teenage sensation Evan Ferguson who stole the spotlight by netting an impressive hat-trick for Brighton.

Ferguson's stellar performance showcased his immense potential and played a pivotal role in securing a strong start to the Premier League season for the club.

In stark contrast, Newcastle United endured a challenging outing, struggling to make an impact throughout the match.

Their first shot on target only materialized in the 87th minute, with substitute Callum Wilson managing to salvage a late consolation goal in injury time.

However, by then, it was too late for a meaningful comeback.

Tariq Lamptey rejoined the action in the 77th minute, stepping onto the field in place of Joao Pedro. This marked his first appearance since his injury-enforced absence.

Despite his successful return to the pitch, it's worth noting that Lamptey was not included in Ghana's squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Central African Republic.

Nevertheless, his comeback for Brighton is undoubtedly a positive development both for the player and the club as they look ahead to the challenges of the Premier League season.
