Ghanaian defender Tariq Lamptey marked his return from injury in Brighton and Hove Albion's Premier League clash against Newcastle United at St James' Park.

The Black Stars' right-back had been sidelined with a knock sustained after his return from international duty with Ghana at the end of March, keeping him out of action for nearly a month.

However, the 24-year-old made a notable comeback, stepping onto the field for his first appearance since April, replacing Joel Veltman after 40 minutes into the game at St James' Park.

Veltman, who had given the Seagulls an early lead, unfortunately had to leave the field due to what appeared to be an injury.

Despite an impressive start from Brighton, Sean Longstaff's goal for the hosts just before halftime ensured both teams shared the points in a thrilling Premier League encounter on Saturday afternoon.

Lamptey's return to fitness comes as a significant boost for Ghana's head coach, Otto Addo, who is gearing up to announce his squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic by the end of the month.

In another notable development, Ghanaian rising star Benicio Baker-Boaitey was brought into the game in the second half, replacing Facundo Buonanotte, and was shown a yellow card for a late tackle.
