The Ghana Premier League(GPL) has been bereft of sponsors since the Kurt Okraku led administration took over the reigns of Ghana football.

There has been few ones like media sponsors StarTimes but the league has been without a headline sponsor for sometime now.

There are other deals with NASCO and Melocm for the Ghana Premier League but sponsors have come at a premium for the elite division.

A lot has been attributed for the failure of powers that be to attract sponsors for its most glamourous product aside the hallowed Black Stars.

But Executive Committee member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Dr. Randy Abbey says that the FA is doing all within its means to secure a headline sponsor for the Ghana Premier League.

"The GFA is fighting very hard to get headline sponsor for the Ghana Premier League, but the clubs should also work hard to get sponsors to sponsor them because the GFA sponsorship alone cannot solve all their problems for them, but the GFA is working hard on that,” Dr. Randy Abbey said on Original FM.

He adds that the money from any headline sponsor cannot solve all the problems of teams and so they must on their own work hard to secure sponsors.
