If you bought a brand new iPhone this year, you weren't alone.

The iPhone was once again the best-selling tech product of the year, according to a USA Today report. What's more impressive is that the sales numbers were far superior than any other tech product on the list.

According to Daniel Ives, an analyst with GBH Insights, who compiled the chart forUSA Today, Apple will sell 223 million iPhones in 2017, up from 211 million phones the previous year …

The runner-up on this year's list wasn't even close. USA Today reports that Samsung followed Apple with combined sales of its Galaxy S8 and Note 8 phones, but only sold a measly 33 million in comparison.

In fact, Apple sold more iPhone units than the next four items on the best-selling list combined. It was a complete blowout.

Other sales numbers worth mentioning are the Amazon Echo Dot at 24 million, the Apple Watch at 20 million, and the Nintendo Switch at 15 million.

One hugely important detail is that Apple's sales numbers include all models of its new phones: the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and iPhone X.

It's still unclear exactly how many units each iPhone sold this year, but Bloomberg reports that demand for the more expensive iPhone X is lower than expected, and that customers appear to prefer the cheaper models.

Still, the total number of sales this year is gigantic. It falls just short of Apple's all-time record from 2015, when it sold 230 million units.
