Former Berekum Chelsea striker Stephen Sarfo says that the current pay given to players  at various  clubs who play in the  Ghana Premier League is scanty and   should be addressed.

Poverty has been the basis for most overseas travels by players in the Ghana Premier League as most players are under paid or handed meagre salaries.

He says that at least players in the domestic league should be paid a monthly salary of GHC2,000 so as to reduce the mass foreign exodus.

He bemoaned the fact that players in the domestic league take such low salaries saying that the government should get involved so that the least salaries players in the domestic game take will be GHC5,000.

"I will urge the Ghana Government to get involved so that at least a player in the league earns around GH₵5000 which will make him not to leave to join clubs on the continent or move to Europe for greener pastures." he told Kessben FM in an interview.

The  former Ghana Premier League goal king currently plies his trade with Iraqi club Al Hudoo.
