Member of Parliament for the Ningo-Prampram Constituency in the Greater Accra Region has branded the Electoral Commissions statement on reasons they could not receive the NDC's minority in Parliament as silly.

Minority members in parliament stormed the Electoral Commission's Headquarters on Tuesday morning to present a petition but met the absence of the top hierarchy of the election management body.

A number of about 50 MPs who were clad in black attire were initially stopped at the Ridge roundabout but managed to cross the barricade while they were being pushed by the police.

They were also stopped at the Electoral Commission office by the police. Some members of parliament were even pushed to the ground by the police personnel.

Some MPs who described the situation as unfortunate said they were only there to present a petition to the Electoral Commission adding that it was not a demonstration but a peaceful walk to the EC office.

Speaking in an interview on Eyewitness News on Citi FM monitored by Ghanaguardian.com, the MP described their reasons in the statement as silly and unconscionable.

"Even a class one pupil will not write such a silly statement so when you are going to a public office

Do you have to write a letter before?"

"I'm telling you that Jean Mensah was in her house after deciding to take a four week break.

We were told by Kwasi Fori that he was going to see the leadership and that he will get back to us when he returned he told us that there were in a meeting and that they will get back to us."

"Later he was told that we should leave the letter with a security officer which we declined and later read it out to the media.

Nobody should take us for kids that us why I say their response is a silly response" he added.
