“There is no pressure in the camp, we are ready to compete”- Ghana U20 captain, Aziz Musibau asserts ahead of Nigeria showdown
10th July 2025
Captain of Ghana’s U-20 national male team Aziz Musibau has ruled out any form of pressure ahead of their opening game against Nigeria, citing the team’s readiness and positive spirit ahead of the 2025 WAFU ZONE B U-20 Boys Championship.
The Black Satellites will face off against the Flying Eagles of Nigeria at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in a repeat of the 2024 WAFU ZONE B AFCON qualifying tournament final in Togo where Ghana lost to Nigeria. This will be a Group A opener for the tournament’s commencement.
The clash is an opportunity for Ghana to redeem themselves from the Africa U20 Cup of Nations failure in Egypt where they lost in the quarterfinals against the hosts and subsequently losing out on a qualification for the FIFA U20 World Cup.
Aziz Musibau said: “I think it is not going to be easy [because] Nigeria is a big country. We are going to fight. For me I will say there is no pressure [and] we are [one] hundred percent ready for the game.”
The Black Satellites are grouped with Nigeria and Benin in Group A, meaning every match will be very crucial in their quest to qualifying for the next phase of the competition which will go a long way to book a ticket to the next Africa U20 Cup of Nations.
Thursday’s opener against Nigeria is expected to set the pace for the rest of the tournament.
