Comic actor Justice Hymns, popularly known as Mmebusem has come under intense criticisms from a section of Ghanaians following his ‘Ghana Jesus’ skit; and latest to join the criticism bandwagon is Elder Gideon Afo.

In a Facebook post sighted by Ghanaguardain.com, the Ghanaian law graduate expressed his displeasure at Mmebusem for parading himself as Jesus in a "holy ground", thereby challenging him (Mmebusem) to put his talent to a good use.

He said although the actor may be talented and comic, there's absolutely nothing funny about his ‘Ghana Jesus’ skit.

"The lead character in this much touted "Ghana Jesus Today series" may be talented and comic at what he does but truth must be told that there is nothing funny about these series", he wrote.

The Church of Pentecost elder described Mmebusem’s actions as "Jesus gimmicks" and cautioned the actor and his production team that Jesus cannot be mocked in a Christian dominated country.

"The path he and his production team tread is a "holy ground" (Exodus 3:1-6) but they have reduced this to pure acts of tomfoolery and buffoonery", he fumed.

Gideon Afo charged Ghanaians not to woo the actor who is only seeking to trend.

"It's all about do something crazy to hit/trend, become a star and make money out of it. (3kom mom de3 3y3 ya)", he said.

He added: "He is a great actor and his fame or infamy has grown to iconic proportions. There are litany of issues of national importance and grey historical stories we can tap to dramatize on in order to boost our ailing moving industry rather than this heretic and sacrilegious misconduct".
