Atlético Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey has been included in the squad for their  Champions League opener against Juventus on Wednesday.

The Ghanaian international was rested over the weekend when Diego Simeone’s loss 2-0 to Real Sociedad at Anoeta on Saturday evening.

He is however expected to play a vital role as the Rojiblancos look to bounce against the Italian Champions.

These two are no strangers to one another in the UEFA Champions League (UCL), meeting in the Round- of-16 only this spring. The host of each leg on the day won ‘to-nil’ by a margin of 2+ goals, winning the second half precisely by a 2-0 scoreline.

Juventus can take great encouragement from the fact that they’ve won over half (five) of their last eight UCL away games. Top seeds in this UCL group, Juventus’ last group stage away game against a Pot 2 team was one of the three wins ‘to-nil’ in that sequence.
