Former Scottish International and Liverpool defender now turned pundit Steve Nicol has lambasted Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey for his contribution to the club.

The Ghanaian midfielder joined the North London club from Spanish side Athletico Madrid for a hefty transfer fee of 50million euros.

Since joining the player has had a mixed performance with injuries curtailing his involvement initially but he is now a mainstay in the team.

The former Liverpool player says he thought the vice Ghana captain would have provided the much needed drive in the midfielder for the team but has failed to glitter.

He also added that the Ghanaian is no different to the mediocre midfielders already present at the club.

“Thomas Partey I thought would be fantastic.

“For the last two or three seasons, we have spoken about how in the middle of the park there was no guts, no drive, no real players and then they go buy him.

“And you think, ‘I like that, this looks good’, but you know what, he looks like an Arsenal player now, a bang average Arsenal player from the last two or three seasons.

“Even he hasn’t had an influence.” He told ESPN FC.
