Arsenal will be without influential midfielder Thomas Partey when they travel to face the Yorkshire club this weekend in the English Premier League.

This was disclosed by the club's manager Mikel Arteta during his pre match press briefing  as they prepare to face Leeds United on Sunday.

"No, he picked up an injury very early in the game [against Aston Villa], he tried to carry on and he wanted to play the second half and we knew it was a significant injury,” Arteta said.

The coach added: “He has done really well, he is working very hard and he wants to be available. Hopefully, we can get him back soon but it is an area where we have to be careful and a bit protective with the player.”

The 27 year old midfielder who started in Arsenal's three nil loss against Aston Villa played only 45 minutes and did no return for the second half after picking up a thigh injury.

He was replaced by on loan Spanish midfielder Dani Ceballos for the second period of the game.

The injury ruled the midfielder out of Ghana's crucial AFCON 2021 double header with Sudan and will not travel with his teammates when they face Leeds United.

Fans of the club were expectant to see the Ghanaian by the end of the International break but he is still not fit as he continue his rehabilitation.

Partey has been a revelation for the Gunners since joining the club on transfer deadline day from Athletico Madrid for 50 million Euros.
