Head coach of the Black Stars, C.K Akonnor has now disclosed that injured Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey will not take part in next month's 2022 World Cup qualifier.

The injury prone midfielder was included in Ghana's 30 man provisional squad for the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers despite being injured.

Akonnor during a zoom press conference has revealed that the former Atletico Madrid midfielder's injury injury sustained is bad and will not be fit in time.

" I have contacted his club and Thomas Partey's injury doesn't look too good"

"We will only have to wish him a speedy recovery and expect him to return stronger"

Partey was caught by a heavy challenge from Chelsea's Ruben Loftus-Cheek in a preseason friendly match and was forced off five minutes before half-time, with the Gunners going on to lose the game 2-1.

Thomas Partey is set to miss key matches for Arsenal after injuring himself during a preseason friendly match against Chelsea.

He was caught by a heavy challenge from Chelsea's Ruben Loftus-Cheek and was forced off five minutes before half-time, with the Gunners going on to lose the game 2-1.

Images of the tackle appear to show the 28-year-old's foot caught beneath the weight of Loftus-Cheek's thigh and his ankle turned in an unnatural position.
His club has revealed that the midfielder will miss at least three weeks of action with his latest injury and is expected to miss Arsenal's  game against Brentford.
"Thomas continues to be assessed and is expected to be back in training in approximately three weeks." Arsenal said after his injury.

The Ghanaian midfielder missed out on his side's opening day defeat to newly promoted Brentford last week and will not be fit in time for Sunday's derby game against Chelsea before missing the trip to Etihad six days later.

Domestic action then shuts down, giving Partey chance to work on his fitness before the Gunners face Norwich on September 11.

The Black Stars will play host to Ethiopia at the Cape Coast Stadium on Friday, September 3 before they travel to South Africa for the second game on Monday, September 6, 2021.
