Owner and President of Tema Youth Wilfred Kwaku Osei Palmer says that there is the real possible of his former player and new Arsenal signing Thomas Teye Partey growing into a better player than Chelsea legend Michael Essien.

The Bison as Essien was called in his hey days at Chelsea left an indelible mark in the English Premier League with his outstanding performances for the West London club for nearly a decade.

According to Palmer, Partey who joined Arsenal on transfer deadline day from Athletico Madrid for 50 million Euros will be a better player than his idol and compatriot Michael Essien.

The Ghanaian midfielder began his career at the Tema based club before embarking on his European adventure with the Rojiblancos.

Palmer says that Thomas Partey has better qualities than the former Chelsea star and will grow into a better player.

"They share a similar role. Essien was box-to-box and also applies the brain-work," he told the Daily Mail.

"Thomas has got good timing, energy but not as boisterous.

"In terms of power and drive they have similar qualities.

"He can turn a defensive position into an offensive opportunity. He plays long searching passes.

"Thomas will grow and have better qualities than Essien, trust me. Yes, Thomas will give you something better."
