Three players who were initially handed call ups to the Black Stars will now drop to the U-23 level to play with the Olympic team in a back to back friendly match with Japan next month.

The trio are Osman Bukari, Benson Anang and Kwame Poku will now play with the U-23 side for the friendlies.

Ghana will next month play the junior side of Japan in International friendly that will be played on June 4 and 8 in Tokyo.

Gent winger Osman Bukari, Colchester striker Kwame Poku and MSK Zilina fullback Benson Annang will now line up for the Black Meteors.

The three players at some point played for the Black Stars during the AFCON 2021 qualifiers in March but will now drop a step down.

Majority of the squad for the Tokyo friendlies are the crop of players who played in Mauritania and won the CAF U-20 tournament.


The Japanese side will use the game to prepare for the upcoming Tokyo Olympic games men football competition.

Coach Paa Kwasi Fabin initially failed to call up Asante Kotoko's Imoro Ibrahim and Hearts of Oak's Salifu Ibrahim but after a lot of public backlash they have now been included in the team.
