A devastating car accident near Madina, Accra, tragically claimed the lives of three groomsmen, turning a wedding celebration into a day of mourning. Two others remain critically injured.

What was meant to be a day of joy and celebration turned into a heart-wrenching tragedy as three young men lost their lives in a horrific car accident on October 19, 2024. The men were en route to a wedding in Madina, a suburb of Accra, when the fatal crash occurred. The group of five, comprising brothers and close friends, had flown in from different locations to celebrate a colleague’s wedding day—an occasion that was to be one of the happiest moments of his life. Sadly, the accident has cast a dark shadow over the festivities, leaving families and friends in deep sorrow.

The Fatal Journey


The tragic accident took place in the early hours of the morning, following a pre-wedding celebration the night before. The victims were part of a convoy that had escorted the bride from Nima to Madina, a customary wedding tradition. The convoy, which included motorbikes and several cars, was making its return trip when disaster struck.

The three young men who lost their lives—identified as Hudu, Mukhtar, and another named Mukhtar—were travelling in a red Hyundai Elantra. According to eyewitnesses, the car veered off the road, resulting in the fatal crash that claimed one  live instantly ,whiles the remaining two died at the hospital upon receiving treatment. Two others, who were also in the vehicle, remain in critical condition and are currently receiving medical care.

A Day of Mourning


What was to be a joyous wedding day has instead become a day of unimaginable grief for the families of the victims. Friends and family are left grappling with the loss of their loved ones, as what was meant to be a celebration of love has been overshadowed by tragedy. One mourner, a close friend of the deceased Hudu whose name is Jumash Glamour, expressed her  sorrow, stating: “It’s heartbreaking that such a joyful occasion has turned into a day of mourning. As the Quran says, ‘We plan and they plan, but Allah is the master of all planners.’ Rest in peace to my brothers. May Allah grant them Jannah and give their families the strength to endure this excruciating pain.”

The tragic news has sent shockwaves through both the Nima and Madina communities. Many who knew the victims described them as hardworking and dedicated young men who had their whole lives ahead of them. Their untimely deaths have left a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved them, as friends and family gather to offer their prayers and support to the grieving families.
