The 2016 independent presidential candidate, Jacob Osei Yeboah, has said the unflattery comments made by US President Donald Trump describing Africans as a living in a 'shithole' continent is not wrong.

Speaking on Joy News channel’s current affairs programme, Mr Yeboah said the American President didn't say anything wrong in the way he described the continent, admitting however that the choice of words he used were strongly offensive.

Mr. Yeboah indicated that the continent is engulfed with filth thereby making the comments by Donald Trump true as a shithole is how best the continent can be described considering its current state.

He tasked  African leaders to be challenged by the recent derogatory comments by US President Donald Trump to improve deteriorating conditions on the continent.

“So far as I am concerned, maybe Trump was not diplomatic because that language is vulgar. Aside from that, let’s look at it objectively and you could say that he is not far from wrong. If Ghana and most African countries are pleasant places to live in, we will not have our youth endangering their lives through the desert and being enslaved on another African country or find themselves on another African country facing xenophobic issues. And all of these are actually pointing to the fact that yes indeed most African countries are unpleasant places,” he said.

He adds: “Shithole means unpleasant place...the current NPP government has seen that filth is choking us and therefore elevated a whole sanitation to the ministerial level. This is indeed an indication of the fact that we are being choked to death.”

Donald Trump was reported to have unsavory comments while complaining during immigration negotiations with lawmakers in the Oval Office.

Donald Trump said: "Why are we having all these people from s***hole countries come here?". He was referring to people from HaitiEl SalvadorNicaraguaHonduras and African countries in the temporary protected status program. As soon as his statement was made public by the media, the world was infuriated and called him out for it.
