Two burnt to death in fiery Offinso highway crash

Two people have been killed in a devastating road accident at Offinso Old Town in the Ashanti Region, leaving two others critically injured.
The crash occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, January 12, 2026, and involved three vehicles—a saloon car, a trailer with registration number GR-1357-W, and a mini truck carrying building materials.
Eyewitnesses say the victims were travelling from Kumasi to Offinso when the collision occurred. The impact caused the mini truck to burst into flames, trapping two of its occupants inside.
A female trader in building materials and the driver of the mini truck were burnt to death on the spot, their bodies severely charred by the fire.
The trailer driver and his mate sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
Police have launched investigations into the circumstances leading to the crash, while the remains of the deceased have been deposited at the hospital morgue for preservation and further examination.
