Two Ghanaian referees are among fifty four selected referees and assistants partaking in a 4 day CAF-sponsored Course in Cairo.
Referee Joseph Lamptey and Assitant David Laryea left the shores of Ghana on Friday to attend the CAF Elite A course which commences on Saturday.
The CAF-sponsored Elite A course aimed at bringing improving the game as far as officiating across the continent concerned.
A statement by CAF, signed by its Refereeing Manager, Eddy Millet of which a copy was chanced on by ghanaguardian.com, reads: "we have the pleasure to invite your referees to the Elite A Course, to be held in Cairo from the 24th to 28th of September."
The referees will undergo physical, theoretical and technical tests during the course aimed at getting well conditioned for the tasks ahead-world cup qualifiers.
The 54 invited match officials are made up of 26 center referees and 28 assistance across the continent are taking part in the exercise which ends on the 28th of September.Out of the 26 centre referees invited, Egypt, Morocco, South Africa and Zambia had the highest number of invitation with two referees each, whiles the rest, just like Ghana, just had one referee selected.
No referee from Nigeria was selected but the most populous African country had one assistant referee selected in the person of Abel Baba whiles Assistant Referee David Laryea represent Ghana in that category .
