Two people are the grips of the Awutu Breku District police command in the central region for posing as workers of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

The two, Kwesi Attah , 42years and Joe Jako 22years according to the police have been visiting the homes of unsuspecting residents in the area demanding money from them as electricity bills.

The suspects, according to the police mostly hide behind announcements by ECG of intended disconnection in such areas to infiltrate their ranks to perpetrate such crimes.

Ultimate News’ Central Correspondent Kwaku Baah-Acheamfour reported that they are said to have threatened to remove the meters of residents who refused to pay the accumulated bills to them.

The two have succeeded in collecting thousands of Ghana cedis from the area as bills for electricity consumed as majority of homes are yet to be fixed with prepaid meters.

The two have been charged with stealing and impersonation and will be arraigned before court.
