There is a glimmer of hope Asante Kotoko may be able to keep hold of winger Maxwell Baako after rejecting the club's contract extension talks.

Baako's contract at the club is on the verge of expiring with the club keen to renew his deal but the player was adamant as he is owed enticement fees from his expiring contract.

Kotoko have been locked in contract talks with the former Karela United winger with the club putting before the diminutive winger a salary of GHC3,5000 a month but that was rejected.

Apparently there is interest from moneybags Legon Cities FC who are willing and ready to pay whatever it takes if the player joins them on a free transfer.

However according to reports from Kumasi based OTEC FM, the playing is more than likely to stay at Asante Kotoko has coach Maxwell Konadu has held heart to heart talks with the winger underlying his importance to the team.

The player who was injured for the chunk of last season has been given assurances by the Kotoko technical team that he will play a prominent role in the team in the coming season.

Baakoh joined Kotoko on a two year deal from Karela United two seasons ago and was integral part of the Kotoko team during the CAF Confederations Cup competition till a knee injury curtailed his season.

The player went under the knife at the beginning of the year to correct the problem keeping him out for a long period while his contract expires on 30th October 2020.
