The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has issued a final warning to individuals trading in gold without a valid GoldBod licence, stating that offenders will face prosecution after the June 21, 2025, deadline.
Sammy Gyamfi, Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod, emphasized that there will be no further extensions for licence applications. This follows a one-month grace period granted after the initial deadline of May 21, 2025.
Addressing members of the Chamber of Licensed Gold Buyers at a stakeholder meeting, Mr. Gyamfi called for the group's support in ensuring full compliance with licensing regulations.
“We must sustain this effort for the benefit of our nation. We will not back down, and anyone who attempts to undermine this process will be dealt with according to the laws of Ghana,” he said. “Please encourage your members to follow the rules—apply for a licence before trading in gold.”
Echoing this message, Kwaku Amoah, Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber of Licensed Gold Buyers, pledged the Chamber’s full support in sanitising the gold trading sector. He urged all unlicensed traders to register before the deadline.
“This is the second extension that has been granted. As a chamber, we stand in support of GoldBod’s efforts. We encourage all our members to comply and complete their registration by June 21, 2025,” Mr. Amoah said.
