The United States and Israel are known for their long record of contravening international law and agreements, says an activist, adding that Washington and Tel Aviv seek to impose their will on other nations.

“The US and Israel have a long history of disregarding international conventions and going against international law… They think that that they can throw their weight around and cause everyone else to follow their will, especially when their will is not in the interest of anyone, maybe not even themselves, but certainly not in the interest of other nations. So for other nations to say no, we are not going to follow that, that is perfectly normal,” Paul Larudee, member of the Free Palestine Movement told Press TV in an interview on Wednesday.

The comments were made in reaction to Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif's recent criticism of the United States and Israel for exiting the United Nations Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (UNESCO), as well as their disrespect of international conventions.

The United States and Israel officially pulled out of the UNESCO late on Monday over what they described as the world body’s anti-Israel bias.

UNESCO infuriated Washington and Tel Aviv after granting Palestine full membership in 2011, and criticizing Israel for its occupation of East Jerusalem al-Quds.

The US and Israel stopped paying their dues to UNESCO as a result. Both lost their voting rights in 2013.

Israel has also been angered by the recognition of several historical sites, which it claims to be its own, as Palestinian.
