Multi talented Radio and TV host, Vanessa Gyan has held a post pregnancy talk with expectant and new mothers.
The event which was aimed at promoting maternal health dubbed the Post Pregnancy Boujie express was held on Friday December 8, 2017 at the Ridge Hospital in Accra.
Speaking to ghanaguardian.com, Vanessa Gyan, explained her motivation to holding the event.
"After I gave birth in the states, I was given an amazing treatment by the doctors, nurses and hospital staff. But while sharing my pregnancy and post pregnancy experiences with my friends who had earlier given birth in Ghana, I realised our experiences were very different. However, we shared something in common...which is motherhood...
So I wanted other women to experience this same feeling and know that we are together in this journey no matter how different the circumstances was. I wanted them to know that as a woman you are super human". she explained
The EIB network presenter added that, "It is vital for every woman to feel good during and after her pregnancy. She must feel FAB while entering a life-changing journey. A woman should never feel alone during such a beautiful journey".
Asked if her expectations for the well attended event was fully accomplished, Vanessa Gyan said;
"I wanted each woman to leave feeling impacted and knowing that they are not alone and that was definitely accomplished.
Also we met a woman who had given birth a few months ago but could not meet the financial demands of the hospital so myself, the MC, and the keynotes speakers put together some money to get her discharged. I am happy we were able to help in that aspects as well".
Vanessa Gyan further stated that following the success of the maiden edition, she plans to hold the event annually.
" The event was a huge success. Thankfully we had a lot of in house patients who had delivered and also guests from outside who had heard about the programme. So yes, I plan to this annually". she stated excitedly
The event which was hosted by ace broadcaster, Fati Shaibu Ali, had 5 keynotes speakers including Fashion blogger/stylist, Karen Kane, Actress Beverly Afaglo, Belinda Boadu, Dzifa Gray and Dania Chaar who all gave experiences on balancing motherhood with their careers.
Gifts bags were given to guest present by over 10 products which were from sponsors of the events.
