Vice President Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur has urged Ghanaians to ignore the propaganda within a section of the public that government’s construction of cocoa roads is for political expediency.

According to him, the construction of cocoa roads is a deliberate policy by the John Mahama-led government to get roads in cocoa communities more accessible.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur made these remarks at Asumura in the Asunafo North Constituency of the Brong Ahafo Region.

The Vice President is in the Region to campaign ahead of the December 7 elections. Speaking in Twi, the Vice President promised to complete the main road in Asumura.

He said the cocoa funds are mainly meant for the construction of roads. “The profit accrued after selling of the country’s cocoa produce is what is used to construct the roads,” he explained to the people.

Meanwhile, a chief in the Region, Nana Bosoma Aso Nkrawiri, has said Ghana needs peace before, during and after the elections.

He expressed belief that the winner has been selected by God already. Nana Nkrawiri said those who are talking about rigging in the elections should rather be investigate as they may have plans to do such.
