The actor's death occurred on July 5 at around 5 pm as confirmed by his son Dr Amartey.
He has been in the Ghana movie industry since 1995, starring in movies like The Returnee, Victim of Love, Black Stars FC and the Fresh Trouble Series.
Mr Amartey has been off the set for over for years following the amputation of one of his legs.
He is known for use of big vocabulary on set and acting along other veteran actors like Grace Nortey and Emmanuel Armah.
