Gospel singer Celestine Donkor is confident she deserved a nomination in the Artist of the Year category of this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

In an interview with Joy News’ Doreen Avio, the ‘Agbebolo’ hitmaker said that she believed she has worked harder this year as compared to other artists in the same category.

“We went all out with my song in terms of promoting, putting it on all platforms, giving it the right attention and reaching out to everybody that needs to hear. I believe we stood tall in terms of events, programs and big gigs in and out of Ghana,” she told Joy News’ Doreen Avio.

Celestine Donkor admitted that the year was a good one for her and she was thankful to her fans for their contributions.

She revealed that the song she released last year garnered 10 million views on YouTube. Also, her song which was also released this year accumulated a similar amount of views.

“If I want to correct anyone who thinks otherwise, I will entreat them to go through my works last year and give me a list of musicians and songs they released and just pay attention to the works as to what qualifies the artist to be in the category. You will find it all if you take time to make your checklist,” she stated.

Celestine Donkor was also nominated in the Gospel Song of the Year category with her song ‘Agbebolo’.
