The vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has saluted new Ghana Premier League champions Accra Hearts of Oak after emerging as 2020/21 Ghana Premier League champions on Sunday.

Hearts drew 1-1 with Liberty Professionals at the Accra Sports with Kumasi Asante Kotoko losing 2-1 to Bechem United to hand the league title to Hearts of Oak who are now four points clear with a game to spare.

The phobians now top the table with 61 points while Kotoko are second placed on 57 points with a single game left which means Hearts have won the league title.

He also congratulated promoted Division One League side Bibiani Gold Stars who have secured promotion to the Ghana Premier League for the first time.

The former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana took to his Twitter account and various social media handles to send his message.

He also wished the other two teams competing for promotion in Zone One and Three well as they battle it out for promotion.

The victory means the 2000 CAF Champions League winner will be making a return to Africa's most pretigious club competition for the first time in a decade.

The Ghanaian giants last success on the continent was winning the CAF Confederation Cup in 2004, the first club to win the second tier club competition on the continent. They beat rivals Asante Kotoko on penalties to win the trophy.
