Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has met a delegation from Hwaseong, South Korea, led by the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), in a move aimed at deepening trade, investment and industrial cooperation between Ghana and South Korean firms.

The discussions focused on expanding strategic partnerships to better position Ghana within global value chains, with particular attention on attracting investments into local production and manufacturing.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang reaffirmed the government’s commitment to reducing Ghana’s reliance on imports by promoting investments along the production chain to ensure that substantial manufacturing activities take place within the country.

She described Ghana’s youthful population as a key strategic asset and stressed the importance of partnerships that can harness this demographic advantage to boost productivity, innovation and industrial growth.

The Vice President also acknowledged South Korea’s progress in fisheries training and research, expressing Ghana’s willingness to learn from and collaborate with the country across priority sectors, including manufacturing, agribusiness, skills development and technology.

She noted that the delegation’s engagements with the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) and visits to the Ekumfi constituency were significant steps toward strengthening investment relations and identifying practical areas for cooperation.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang welcomed the delegation to Ghana and emphasised the need for human-centred cooperation that fosters shared prosperity and contributes to global peace.

She reiterated Ghana’s readiness to pursue partnerships that are collaborative, sustainable and mutually beneficial, describing such cooperation as essential to achieving long-term economic growth and resilience.
