Supporters of Ghanaian dancehall icon Shatta Wale thronged the offices of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) in Accra, demanding his release after reports of his detention surfaced online.

Videos circulating on social media show fans holding placards and chanting in solidarity, with many claiming the artiste’s music had been their source of hope during tough times.

Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., is currently being questioned by EOCO in connection with a probe into his tax obligations. According to his publicist, Sammy Baah Flex, the investigation is tied to the acquisition of a yellow Lamborghini, which allegedly attracted the attention of authorities.

“This is related to an inquiry concerning tax responsibilities on the purchase of a yellow Lamborghini,” a statement from his team explained.

The “On God” hitmaker reportedly visited EOCO voluntarily on Tuesday alongside his lawyer, Cephas Biyuo, to cooperate with investigators.

Meanwhile, his management has called for calm among fans, stressing that the legal team is actively engaged with the authorities to ensure a swift resolution.

“We want to reassure fans and the general public that his lawyers are working closely with EOCO and taking the necessary steps to secure his release as soon as possible,” the statement added.
