WAFU B U17 Championship: Coach Prosper Ogum expresses team readiness ahead of Nigeria clash

Ghana’s U-17 national team, the Black Starlets, are set for a high-stakes clash against Nigeria in the semifinals of the WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship, with a place in the 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco up for grabs.
The match kicks off at 19:00 GMT on Tuesday, September 30, at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro, and promises to be one of the tournament’s standout fixtures.
Head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum expressed confidence in his squad’s readiness:
“We feel good. Everyone is okay, and the common spirit of the team is very high. The boys are confident and very ready to get the results to book a place for the AFCON in Morocco.”
Ogum also highlighted tactical improvements:
“We’ve identified the errors from our previous games through video sessions and worked on them. We expect an improvement in our defensive shape.”
The Black Starlets advanced to the final four after a 3–1 win over Niger in their final Group A fixture, showcasing attacking flair and resilience. Nigeria, meanwhile, topped Group B, setting up a classic West African derby with high stakes.
