The Black Satellites on  Ghana were handed  a reality check by the flying Eagles of Nigeria in the opening game at the WAFU Zone B U-20 Nations Cup at the Stade GSK in Niamey  on Sunday afternoon.

Nigeria started  the game on the  front foot and quickly took the lead in the 5th minute after a slow start  from the Ghanaians.

Aminu Muhammad did not waste time as he shot  Nigeria into the lead with a well taken strike.

Ghana huffed and puffed  for the equalizer but the Nigerians  were fully in control of the game as they dominated the midfield.

The Nigerian goalkeeper had a field day as Ghana could barely construct any meaningful attack.

Captain Zubairu Ibrahim sent a freekick goal wards but it was tipped wide by the Nigeria goalie with a flying save after the ball took a deflection.

The first half ended 1-0 in favour of  the Flying Eagles of Nigeria as Ghana failed to snatch an equalizer.

After recess Nigeria looked like the team who could score again with a lots of counter breaks despite Ghana threatening sporadically.

The closest Ghana went was when the Nigeria goalie spilled a corner kick but it was cleared as the Ghana team protested for a hand ball but the referee waved away the appeals.

Nigeria wrapped up the game with substitute Ahmed Abdullahi cutting in from the right and sending a  deflected shot into the goal in the 78th minute to make it 2-0.
