The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on Monday, December 2, 2024, traveled to Nkoranza to participate in the final funeral rites of the late Nkoranzamanhemaa, Nana Adutwumwaa Dudaa Kani II.

After making a stop on his way at Tanoso for the performance of a ritual to the Tano River god, the Asantehene arrived at Nkoranza, where he made a grand entry at the funeral grounds, riding in a palanquin.

Traditionally a husband to the late Nkoranzamanhemaa, Otumfuo, who was one of the chief mourners, sat in state where he received various dignitaries who had come to mourn with him.

The Asantehene took a moment to pay his final respects to the late Nana Adutwumwaa Dudaa Kani II when he performed some traditional rites beside her mortal remains.

Dancing to the Aprede rhythm, Otumfuo at one point held a gun, symbolising his willingness to have gone to war to save his wife from the cold hands of death if it were possible.
