Nigeria U-20 national team captain, Kolocho Daniel Bameyi exhibited readiness for the WAFU U-20 ZONE B tournament, citing they will go all out against continental rivals Ghana in the tournament opener.

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria will set the ball rolling for their tournament campaign against Ghana on Thursday, July 10 at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.

Speaking ahead of the crucial Group A encounter, Bameyi expressed confidence and belief in the character, grit and drive of the team.

“Really we are prepared and what I can tell you [is] as players we know how important this match is to us and we are playing against our rivals.

“So we are prepared that I can tell you as players. [We] always want to be the best, that is what I believe in and we have one of the best technical officials so it will be a good game and all eyes will be on that game.

“So we as players are not taking it lightly at all [and] first of all we must understand that no country is a small country when it comes to football and when any other country is playing against Nigeria, we know what that means, they want to give even more [than] they are expected of.”

Nigeria are paired in Group A alongside Benin and Ghana which implies the vital need for a strong contest in every game as only a positive result in all games will guarantee qualification for the next phase of the competition.
